2K Hires Popular Battle Royale Producer to Rescue Struggling Action Game Ambitious Title
The renowned publisher has appointed Ben Brinkman from the creators of Apex Legends to oversee the studio crew at their internal studio, which is currently developing the forthcoming third-person action-packed title known as this innovative game.
Leadership Shift Comes After Lukewarm Response
Brinkman takes on the leadership position at the development studio following the exit of previous head the ex-Sledgehammer Games executive, who was removed from his post due to the game's lackluster unveiling last fall.
Recently, 2K president a key figure notified staff about this organizational change through an official communication, which highlighted that early feedback sessions had shown the requirement for a more defined direction.
Ismailer noted that the team is now reimagining the project with a revised vision, aiming to satisfy community desires.
A Pattern of Key Acquisitions
This announcement follows a comparable step taken by 2K Games in August, when they recruited Rod Fergusson from Blizzard to assist with the beloved franchise development group.
Below is the complete content from the president's announcement:
Dear Team—
I understand you all just wrapped up your meeting - I hope you’re as excited as I am with the positive developments. Previously I sent you all a update, I mentioned the following: “I am confident in this crew. You all are some of the most dedicated and talented developers we have had the opportunity to work with - and we’re looking forward for that collaboration to persist.”
With your dedication and flexibility, especially over the last year, you continue to prove that.
The player input from last fall’s the game playtest was enlightening. It validated the promise of a action-packed game but indicated we still had improvements to make. It highlighted the necessity for a clearer brand.
It’s been inspiring to see how far you’ve come. You embraced the input to mind and reimagined Project ETHOS with a refreshed direction - one that’s poised to fulfill its ambition to our audience.
Our confidence in this project strengthens every day. To boost the outstanding development you’ve made, I am thrilled to announce Ben Brinkman as the incoming Lead of the team. Following several months of conversations, Ben comes aboard us on next week.
Ben’s leadership and expertise in the PVP shooter space is considerable, having dedicated the past decade and a half producing and managing some of the most well-known series in the industry, such as the acclaimed shooter, and more recently, Apex Legends.
I invite you all in welcoming Ben next week. We are all eager to persist witnessing the progress of the game in the months to follow.
The President

"Build your perfect run—or die trying—in this 3rd-person action shooter! Build your hero in live gameplay to fit your unique tactics," the description states. "Take on the rivals with unique powers, stakes, and tests that change every session. Will you leave securely with your valuable rewards? Alternatively aim high, gamble everything, and hope your group can earn top ranking? The choice is yours."
The game has not yet received an announced launch window or consoles, but players can expect more updates as development advances.
