It's difficult for the Australian squad to break new ground.

The greatest achievements have been successfully scaled.

This is the unit that has won seven Cricket World Cups, along with six more T20 titles, and previously enjoyed nearly four years without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, the ones sought by the record chasers, are all that remain for a squad that has achieved everything.

The fact it required as late as Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase over 300, regaining their record for the highest in the women's 50-over format, is, frankly, a testament to the bowlers that have represented Australia over five decades.

It's challenging for their batters to hold a record if never given the opportunity.

In the end, the result of Australia allowing 330 runs was leader Alyssa Healy being given a chance to deliver her newest gem.

Originally famous as the teenage relative of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after Australia couldn't capture either of the T20 or ODI World Cups from the prior year and has seen it all through 15 successful years since.

A T20 championship victory happened three months after her debut and seven international trophies have come from 10 attempts across formats.

The gritty keeper was in attendance in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final defeat by India briefly halted the successful run.

That loss "pushed us to reevaluate our levels," Healy said this week.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the championship match and was declared player of the series. She ensured her country would not fail again.

If this newest brilliant performance exceeded that prior achievement remains open for discussion.

Certain people claim the case for final game tension. Some might respond with the difficulty that comes when facing a record target and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What's definite is this hundred was far harder to predict.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 occurred when she led the batting statistics, but this innings came after six matches in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had failed to pass 30.

"If you've been watching me in the nets, it's been a frustrating experience because it seemed I've had no rhythm whatsoever," commented Healy.

"However when you enter the playing area, your competitive nature take over and you just lock into the contest."

Healy's competitive nature has consistently been her major advantage - and a priceless quality in succeeding legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's promising player Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, fallen to the 22-year-old seamer in every game, but here that only provided Healy's spark.

One run resulted off the opening delivery and from there Healy was on her way.

"An opportunity to take the field and lock in a contest with her and just have a bit of fun in that aspect, somewhat inspired me," said Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 deliveries - her swiftest at the global tournament - and her hundred in 84 balls as she attacked short-pitched balls, scoring 21 fours and three big hits.

When she was removed the team required another 66 at run per delivery - a manageable total now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"Pursuing 330 is unfamiliar ground so I'm happy we have the belief to accomplish that now," added Healy.

"Ideally we won't need to repeat it but, if we do, we believe we can succeed."

That comment will be the ultimate thing rival teams at this tournament need to hear.

In recent days a sense they will win from any position has grown stronger - this success coming after success over Pakistan by 107 run margin despite being 76-7 at one point.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before a meeting with traditional opponents England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a last-four spot may well be secure.

It was at that stage they exited the previous year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - a match Healy missed because of ruptured tissue in her foot as she led her country for the inaugural occasion at a major tournament.

So strong is her resolve, she subsequently stated she wanted to have participated despite the injury.

Yet even as she afterwards confessed those fitness problems have delayed consideration of ending her career, this tournament is anticipated as her last as captain in ODI cricket and she is hasn't yet secured an international tournament as captain.

Success in India would take her to the summit of her last major obstacle.
